Meet the Artist
Hey, My name is Robyn Lightwalker and I am a visual artist. My work spans many themes, mediums, subject matter and styles. This site is meant to be a digital portfolio of all my personal and fan favourites. I hope it can be used as a tool for those who would like to hire me to see what I am capable of so they can get a sense of how I can help them achieve their goals.

I have been a full-time artist for about a decade now, I have worked with big organizations like Pearson Airport, the Electricity distributors Association, The Ford Fund, Harvest Festival and many businesses, private clients, Business Improvement Areas, Musicians, Non-Profits and families- both local and international. I have travelled to Asia, Europe and across North America finding opportunities everywhere I go to share my work and be inspired by the chance to experience different cultures. Some of my projects are massive and require many assistants and collaborators. While others are tiny but make a big impact on the individuals they touch.

I try to imbue a sense of wonder and magic in my work, to highlight the love I have for this earth and the beings who inhabit it. I hope to remind people to see past the fear and hopelessness that seems to be ever growing in society. To remind people there is good in this world worth living for, worth hoping and fighting for. And remind people that they are not alone. This is how I feel when I see art. I remember that we are all part of one group, we all have the capacity to laugh and cry and struggle and celebrate.
My Story- incase you are curious... It isn't an easy one to tell, so I wouldn't fault you for stopping here. It has a happy ending though, I promise!

I grew up in Hamilton, ON Canada. As an impoverished youth, my parents both struggled with mental illness which led them to be absent for parts of my childhood, either in the psyche ward, or in jail. My mother struggles with schizophrenia, my father with depression, addiction, anger. Aside from that, there was always art supplies and encouragement to explore and create. At first, I used art as a means to escape the very difficult things I saw and experienced. I have been varying degrees of homeless most of my young life. Luckily I have a pretty face and a charming personality, so there was usually a couch to sleep on or a bed to share with someone kind enough to let me crash in the worst of times. Art is the only place that has ever truly felt like home to me. Even now, finding home is an ongoing process that I'm not sure will ever end.

At age 23 I quit my stable yet mind numbing job and tried my luck as a fulltime artist. thanks to many late nights, a ton of community support, and some very unorthodox side gigs, I have managed to not only stay afloat as a professional artist, but find success in just about every project I set my mind to completing. There is always struggle of course, I wouldn't trade my struggles for anything because thy have made me who I am, and I am grateful to be everything I am today. I have had many mentors, and mentees over the years, and learned so much from every one of them.

My mission in this life is to take in the world and filter it through my own creative lens and contribute in a positive and thoughtful way to this collective experience that we are all co-creating together. I hope to inspire and uplift the people I meet, and the people that have the chance to experience my art.
